Work and study English overview
Work in UK without working in a hotel with only people of the same nationality to practice English and without working an au apair with only kids to speak English with!
This is a summer work programme. However if you use internet: facebook, bebo, post in forums etc then please contact us immediately as you can start saving money now. Alsq if you can translate about 2000 words of our website into your language.
All work and study English options offer you the opportunity to study English in the morning and speak English all day. Individual room in student residence and all meals are always included.
The following information give you a very good idea but it will be updated on Friday 5 Februray.
Please note: your work and study English experience will be shared with people of a similar age from many different countries. This hopefully makes it more interesting for people that were considering work as an au pair
The work is explained below
Non-Native Teachers
We are unable to employ you as an English teacher because our policy is to only employ native teachers. We appreciate that many non-native teachers have studied English to a very high level (often even in England etc) and may have excellent qualifications and experience. However for commercial reasons we can only offer you the work and study English option.
We offer an excellent opportunity to maintain or improve your English language skills. Every summer we require a right hand man for our adult English course and another for our junior English course. These people need to have excellent English language skills, be well organized, enthusiastic and flexible. Obviously, you will speak English with all staff and speak in English as much as possible to the students. Other languages are a bonus.
There are various options according to your English language level and interest in attending our English Course (always free). Please contact us as this option receives different treatment.
Could you bring or send one student or a group of juniors? We can offer a commission, paid position etc
Moniter for junior english course
This is an opportunity to speak English all day and maybe attend English classes. Obviously, you will speak English with all staff and speak in English as much as possible to the students. Other language skills are a bonus. You MUST enjoy being with teenagers.
Payment is possible but we prefer monitors who wish to attend the adult course (as a form of payment) during or after your period with the teenagers.
This is a very important post for us and we need 7 cooks. Each cook will not need to cook for more than 15 people for each meal. If you can cook for more or even oversee all the work of the cooks then even better.
Our English course is not a typical course and we organize our own meals. This is slightly cheaper for us but our main motivation is to have flexibility of meal times and increase the international mix of our English course.
Due to the importance of this post we can be very flexible and we are open to any offers.
General helper for English course
In this case you can help with kitchen duties and general organizational help.
Sorry, we have problems with this work and study English page so here is additional information.
“Helper” is the name we give to a person that attends our English Course in exchange for various possiblities of work.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you can help us with:
Translation of our part of our website into your language
Our internet campaign in any way – forum posting, blogging, seo, web design etc etc
In previous years the attendance of helpers was completely free however due to the popularity of this offer we have introduced other options for 2010 The idea is to have more helpers working fewer hours. However, free options still exist.
Please note the rest of the information on this website is directed at potential students. You will be a student in exchange for your work!!! When we refer to your, accommodation, meals, English classes or trips they are the same as those attended by our paying students. The only difference is that you may attend some classes that have a maximum of 8 students rather than 6.

Any aupair work options will be limited to helpring look after any children if a family decides to attend our course.
Study English and be a general cleaner:
This is the first year we offer this particular option and imagine it will be less popular than the others. For this reason this option has more probability of being 100% exchange.
Cleaners are required to clean the student rooms and change the sheets once per week. Laundry of the sheets and cleaning the communal bathroom. The bathrooms are only used by students of MovingOn Courses and so will not be very dirty. Each apartment for 4 or 7 students should be kept clean and tidy at all times.

Collect student and take students to and from the airport. Take helpers to do the shopping – several times per week. You may be required to get up early or return late. For insurance purposes you must be at least 26 years old.

Any hours of work before you arrive will be discounted from your hours while in Ireland
Help with our internet campaign by posting in forums, web design and whatever suggestion we hear!
Some admin work during the course – this can only be combined with other tasks as we do not have sufficient admin work to occupy a person full time.
Translation
Primarily of our website to your language – this we pay in the form of a discount at 0.10 Euros / word or for each hour of work. This can be done before you arrive and so you would be able to attend additional classes or trips provided we have room for you.
In return for working with us, we provide:
1)Individual room and all meals
2)The possibility to join classes according to the option you choose. Occasionally we provide additional classes specifically for helpers so there may be a maximum of 8 students in the class.
3)The possibility to participate in some of the trips during your stay according to the option you choose.
4)ENTRANCE FEES TO SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS ARE NOT INCLUDED.

Preference will be given to helpers that can start 1,2 or 3 of July which is when we have both the junior English course and adult English course running at the same time. In general you should arrive Sunday and leave Saturday. If you arrive before 3/7/10 then you will be heping to prepare the course. These days have no classes or trips but there is also less work.
Timetable:
Helpers have one-and-a-half days per seven day week free. Most work is before and after meal times – 08:30, 14:00 and 20:00
Extra information:
We cannot offer special help with respect to obtaining a visa.
We ask that, if you decide to work with us, you send all travel arrangements to us by email as soon as they are finalised.
Student ages: In the adult course most students are around 25 to 40 years of age but we have students of all ages. We are considering an additional cheaper English course that would only include English classes – all these student would be younger.
In the children’s course the ages will be 10 to 17.
The number of helpers will change according with the number of students each week. In other words the work load will always be similar. The number of adults each week will vary between 10 and 30.
The children’s course will only take place from 4/7/09 to 24/7/09 and will have around 40 children.
How much money to bring:
This is the money you feel you need for souvenirs, drinks, etc. plus about 5€ per week for entrance fees to tourist sights. We recommend 20 to 50€ per week. This would be the same as a regular au pair although perhaps you will spend more time with people of a similar age and therefore spend more money socialising.
Why should you trust MovingOn Courses?
If we agree to an exchange you can contact helpers from previous years and also confirm our booking with Brookfield student accommodation in Cork. Please do not do this until we have reached an agreement as the accommodation staff will get a little frustrated with our company. If you have contacted us thorough coolenglish, clubteli, aula, expolingua or mintmint then these organisations have publicised our offer during various years with various positive reports and no complaints.
Why do we do this:
This system maintains our English course as international as possible and also gives us flexibility.
You agree with the above and want to know the next step:
Let us know you are interested and we will telephone you to carry out a short interview by telephone. This will be to clarify any details and to make sure that you understand your responsibilities, etc.
Also at this stage you can talk to helpers that have attended the course during previous years.
If we confirm your attendance this will be guaranteed once we have received a photocopy of your flight or travel tickets.
Please note: we apologise for being busy and so we do not have time to answer questions which show that you have not read all the information or have not asked a fluent English speaker to help clarify the information. ALL OTHER QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME AS WE UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT A NORMAL OFFER.
However, you can find many language agencies that offer a combination of au pair work and English classes. Our offer is much better for your English, possibilities for tourism and a more a complete experience with people of your age.
We plan to have most of our helpers organised before 20/04/10
If after reading this you are still interested, please send an email to info@movingoncourses.com with subject HELPERCONFIRM2010
Please include:
1.CV or short personal description
2.Job you wish to perform
3.Confirm you understand the need to be flexible and that you may have a variety of tasks including cleaning if we do not get enough cleaners
4.Availability and preferred dates
5.Which of the four options you want (this refers to the number of hours of work etc)
