FAQ – English Course for Juniors

Why choose an English Course with MovingOn Courses?

On the English Course you will have a lot of opportunity to speak English because you will spend the whole day with English Teachers and monitors.
Classes with a maximum of 8 students – because English Classes with large groups mean you waste your time.
Meals with teachers (max 6 students per teacher/monitor) – because you need to practice English in real social situations.
Daily Activities with teachers/monitors – because you need to practice English in as many situations as possible and our teachers will help and correct you.
Accommodation shared with teachers and monitors – so you can take advantage of a total English speaking environment.

How much time will I Study, Learn or Speak English each day?

You will spend 12 hours a day in the presence of our Native English Teachers and monitors speaking English. Of course, how much you participate is up to you, but you will always have an opportunity to be practising English.

Other English Courses offer English Classes in small groups!

We offer a maximum of 8 students/teacher on the Junior Course (although the average is 4). Many courses mention reduced or small groups but if they do not specify and guarantee the maximum number of students then you should check with the academy before booking.
MovingOn Courses offers an average of 8 students/teacher during the summer – it is not an average of the whole year.

Can I do the English Course with activities such as horse riding, tennis lessons etc.

We provide such English Course combinations. Transport is always included but the activity is charged separately.

All day in English is no problem but I´m worried about other students speaking to me in my language.

This is a common problem in English language courses during the busy Summer months, especially in the south east of England and parts of Ireland. MovingOn asks its students to sign a contract to try to use English as much as they can. This is possible because you will almost always be near a teacher. However, if this worries you, choose another course.

What if 12 hours/ day speaking English is too much?

12 hours per day with native teachers is hard work but the teachers are patient and are there to help you. Please remember, you will have the opportunity to relax (in English) during the trips.

What day do I arrive and leave?

Arrival: Sunday 4th July Departure: Saturday 24th July 2010

What do students do after class, in the afternoon and evening?

We enjoy trips to the sports centre and workshops on various topics such as dance and cooking. We also take our students to interesting tourist sites around Cork: the charming village of Kinsale with its impressive fort, Killarney National Park, Cobh – the Titanic town etc. We have a trip to a bowling alley, lots of sport and a gentle hike with some local Cork youth which ends with a BBQ.

How old are the students?

The Junior Course is for young people aged 10-17. Please ask us about accompanying your child if he/she is too young for the course. It is possible for an adult to attend the adult course and their child to attend the Junior course at the same time as our courses take place on the same campus.

What’s the accommodation like?

Accommodation is in secure university residence. Ensuite rooms are available. All the rooms are of a high standard, have a good bed, study space and wardrobe.

Does MovingOn have courses outside summer?

We have received requests for courses outside Summer. There are a variety of options available including homestay in the home of a native English teacher. Please send us your preferred dates and any options and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is it possible to take my child who is not yet old enough for the junior course?

Yes, provided that your child´s stay coincides with yours.
